Groceries, European Style

Hi friends!!

How has your Tuesday been going? Mine has been wonderful! Great run, 30C+ and too many strawberries!!

Morning Run The alarm went off at 5 AM this morning, and I was actually contemplating going back to sleep! GASP!

I changed it to 5:30 (the time I get up when I run around 7 KM) but as soon as I closed my eyes I told myself “Who are you kidding?”

Yea, I am not kidding anybody. Turned off the alarm and went to brush my teeth.

So I set out with the aim of covering 12 laps.

Now here is where it gets tricky: I crossed the 7th lap at 32 minutes.

I have never ran this fast and thus something is wrong  in my opinion because I was running fairly steadily and my HR was not that high (which in my book means I was not running too hard). So I could be miscounting my laps which I doubt because I am not senile. But then again it is 5 AM and my head is in planet “Oh gosh I have exams next week” .

Anyhow, here are my stats for the assumed 10.7 KM:

Time Average HR Highest HR
1 hour, 4 minutes 159 BPM 168 BPM

I think I really need a Garmin.

 Strength Training

Gina’s amazing challenge keeps kicking my bootie and today was no exception! I think that any upper body workout suits me best. You know I am not a fan of the abdominals….

Yummy Goodness

So since I went shopping this afternoon, I decided I may share with you what was in my trolley.

Note that:

  • I buy for the entire house (i.e. myself, my padres, my 8 year old I-can-eat-anything-and-not-gain-weight brother and my 16 year old I-just-don’t-really-care-too-much-about-food sister)
  • I visit a grocery store every.single.day. I mean it. This is because we always run out of items and because there are so many chains selling particular products that I have to make rounds. Tortillas can only be found at this store, whilst my frozen veggies are found at another

t 008

  • High fiber cereals (x2)
  • BBQ sauce (x2)
  • 2 low fat strawberry yogurts
  • Sweet and Sour Cooking Sauce (this is new, I will give it a shot)
  • 1 Chocolate Duo Spread (for the brother, and, well, the rest of the house sans moi)
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup (x2)

t 005

  • 1.5% fat milk – there is not “skim” milk here. There is 0.5%, but my mother hates it. In Israel, by the way, there is only 3% fat milk and 1% is rarely available
  • 5 DUO Mix desserts – for the brother

t 006

  • 5 packages broccoli florets, 350 grams each
  • 5 packages cauliflower florets, 450 grams each

As you know, these are the loves of my life. I eat a whole bag in one sitting.

t 003

  • 3 parsley cottage cheese, 150 grams each
  • Pickles in vinegar – I normally can’t stand these, but there are no pickles in brine here like in Israel
  • Another Chocolate Duo Mix
  • 3 tablet sweeteners (I am a splenda whore as you know)
  • Grounded sweeteners (see above excuse)
  • 1 President Radish Cheese Spread – which stars daily in my food recaps

Moran Rambles So I am wondering:

  1. Would you like me to post my shops? I know its European and most of my readers are from the US, but do let me know if you find it interesting!
  2. Are there any questions you would like me to answer in particular regarding my recent running/eating/Europe-in-general

Off to bed, I am hoping for another early rise tomorrow!
